On March 18, singer Yoo Seung-jun took to social media to share a nostalgic moment from his childhood in Korea.
He posted a video, writing, “December 7, 1989. I was 13 years old (a first-year middle school student), and this was Songpa-gu Oju Middle School, where I studied until the day before I immigrated to the U.S..” The clip featured familiar sights from his youth, including the school walls, playground and main entrance.

Yoo Seung-jun reacted emotionally, commenting, “It looks just the same.” However, he clarified that he did not film the video himself, adding, “A fan kindly visited my old middle school and sent me this footage. Thank you.”
Yoo Seung-jun debuted in 1997 and quickly rose to fame with hits like “Me Me Me”, “Passion” and “Love Song”. However, in 2002, he faced a massive backlash after acquiring U.S. citizenship and avoiding mandatory military service, leading to a ban on his entry into Korea.

In November 2023, he won a legal battle regarding his overseas Korean visa, meaning the government must reconsider his application if he chooses to apply. However, despite the court ruling, his entry ban remains in place.
Currently residing in the U.S. with his wife and four children, Yoo Seung-jun frequently shares glimpses of his family life. His latest post, reflecting on his Korean roots, has sparked curiosity about whether he still hopes to return one day.
